Russell's comments are as true today as they were back in 2008. Everybody gets dragged into the crocodile fighting and misses the Solution, draining the swamp. So long as elected seats are cat bird seats of corruption, Thailand's next 100 years will be like the last 80, gang warfare politics.

Hi everyone.

I work in thai restaurant and I watch the new ASTV News. I saw how well this organization held their conferences or meetings outside the street. It was also interesting how well they manage to work as a community helping each other by given food one another and setting a place to sleep with a sense of trust one another.

My first impression about the clapping hands was something useless but later I realize that was not the point behind it it was symbol of non-violent way to protest and be as a team clapping for happiness for a change " They say that Thailand is the land of smiles".

I have a question, now that Thailand has a new prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva. He having to deal with red shirts or Thaksin followers. They are creating almost the same strategies as People Alliance for Democracy did without of course of violence. What's is going to happen next?

The red shirts are building themselves by creating almost the same supposedly struggles as the PAD did. Is Thailand Parliament going to do something about it.

What does the King of Thailand says about this riots of these people wearing red shirts?

Thank you for your time.

p.s.
I hope justice prevail soon for those people in need.

Thai king, the love of our king, Rama 9

He has done a lot of projects to give the new lives to all of Thai people, such as; Fon Luang, which means to put the chemical in the sky to create the rain, and also making the excellent relationship with other Kings and other countries

Sorry to have to disagree with you Russell but there is a huge difference between the two sides. The one side wants to build a Singapore style family dynasty run government and the other wants to bring back the traditional style Thai value system (which I fell in love with 30 years ago).

I by far prefer the traditional Thai value system, it is not without it's faults of course, but no system is.

The idea of living under and supporting a family dynasty run government repulses me. If it appealed to me I would have moved to Singapore a long time ago.

My suggestion to any tourists who feels stranded or trapped in Thailand is to try and learn something from the experience. It will all be over very soon and you will be back home safe and sound before you know it, with plenty of stories to tell at the local pub.

Local farang and Thai businesses that are suffering, I feel for you and I will no doubt suffer too, but that is the price we sometimes have to pay for change. Let us hope that it all works out for the better in the end.

@Russel

Do you know what the word "Active Citizen" mean?

If PAD leaders really aimed for benefits, they would have given up by now and got hundreds or thousands million baht and ended this mob. Why should they spend time in those dangerous places all the time?.. And to those saying the leader would be behind the people.. That is wrong.. PAD leaders are in front of the rally every time.. They have announced for many times not to be in any political positions after all of this. They are very tired, the same to fellow PAD in every location. They wish to end this as much as you do.. but what did you do to help the country except nothing and saying "Let's it be"

Look to the word "Active Citizen" again.. We, PAD the active citizen comparing to the people who only want to live without fighting for anything... You won't be able to do anything at all. If you dare.. come on street and -demand- for something you want..

But look at the size of PAD.. Why there are so many people out there believing in the better society for everyone to live in... including you.

What else you can do instead of complaining?... So do something you thing it is constructive instead of come here and complaining for nothing.

George,
I've also traveled to, worked in & lived in Thailand for about 30 years as well.

Struggle?

This isn't some noble protest to remove an evil dictator & bring democracy to the masses - it's a struggle between two groups of equally self-interested people who's only interest is power (business & political). The real issues (which you are no doubt aware of) are just being used as a justification. Nothing will alter whichever group 'wins' despite the sincere hopes of the average protester who as normal has been hoodwinked into doing someones dirty work only to later find it was all for nothing.

There's no doubt as to who's already lost - it's Thailand.

It's a great shame it had to come to this at any time but especially at the time of the kings 80th birthday - what a present!

By the way - being trapped as so many tourists are is hardly a "minor inconvenience" - all for nothing in the end as well.

I am embarrassed for all the foreigners (and some foreign embassies) who only think of their own minor inconveniences and do not even try to understand the history and real facts behind this struggle.

I have lived in Thailand for over 30 years and feel a deep love for this country. If the closing of the airport hurts the present government and forces them to quit, then it is the right thing to do.

I am including a link to some images I took the other night at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

PAD's siege of airports is WRONG!

No one will support a party that has put an international community with nothing to do in Thailand's internal political bickering in harms way.

Even if you win, you have lost the faith of the world. Your act has isolated Thailand! Your Government, if it ever comes to be, will never receive the world's respect.

Your stupidity has only strengthened your opposition.
