First of all, you shouldn’t read here if you still favour Thaksinism (aka Taxsin) because you will be blind by lots of materialism illusion and shut away from whatever I have to say.
Current political situation in Thailand is the unexpected consequences of bloodless coup of Peope’s Party since 24 June 1932. Several Thai governments has misled the country while majority of Thai people still lacks of education and understanding of what democracy really is.
This atrocious tree is fully grown when Thaksin had fullest power where the development of countries is measured by only GDP, reflexion of materialism and capitalism whereas level of morality and ethics were mostly ignored.
Thaksin completely got the hearts of grass-root people with several corrupt populism policies (contact me if you need references), his party also used lots of money to buy votes, the election committee, and whatever got in his way of power. He and his party was also popular among middle class people and rich men who thought
- “Corrupt politicians are acceptable as long as they do something good to people and/or the country” and/or
- “Thaksin did so many good things to the country comparing to other previous governments, no matter what he did for his own” and/or
- “Every Thai government in the past corrupted, though Thaksin’s government corrupted the most, but his government also did the most for the country”
Starting from then, Thai people have been divided till now. Bloodless coup that overthrew Thaksin in 19 September 2006 was ashamed. The same toxic tree was just being trimmed but ready to regrow as you can see from the latest Thailand election.
The People Alliance of Democracy (PAD) or the Yellow Shirt was originally a coalition of protesters against Thaksin formed on 8 February 2006. The PAD then dissolved after the coup then re-grouped again in March 2008. This time PAD was originally against the 2007 Constitutional amendment to help Thaksin and banned key members of dissolved Thai-Rak-Thai party. The marching on Rajadamnern Road in May 5 has now become the longest protesting campaign in Thailand history.
Now PAD consists of various groups of people ranging from young teenagers, some grass-root people, middle-class people, labours, to high-class people. PAD believes that representative democracy is not suitable for Thailand, and the vicious captialism initiated by Thaksin will makle Thailand collapsed. PAD also favours in the Sufficiency Economic Theory (founded by H.M. King Bhumibol) which is completely opposite of what Thaksin and his current proxy government have done for Thailand. Everyone in PAD is now sharing the same common goal that is to protect constiutional monarchy and re-establish the New Politics for the sake of Thailand‘s future and their descendants.
PAD’s campaigns had been peaceful until PAD leaders decided to take control of NBT (The National Broadcasting Television – (was Channel 11), Public Relationship Department) and the government office area. I believe that taking control of NBT is the wrong decision, but nothing can be changed now. Some said, this offensive strategy was necessary for the shameless government, whatsoever… Now PAD has completely surrounded and settled in the government office area with a more permament stage for continuous protesting.

PADs were marching against barbarian polices which attacked unarmed men, women, old men, and pet!
Those who don’t like PAD including many anti-Thaksin groups think that PAD caused a disorder in Thailand, and PAD movements were all about personal benefits. Some personally disliked PAD leaders by their gray background (especially Sondhi Limthongkul’s) where this was (seem-to-be temporary) exempted from other PAD followers.
On the opposite side, the National United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (the Red Shirt) was established after the coup in September 2006 First of all, this group attacked H.E. General Prem Tinsulanonda, the President of Privy Council and State man by accusing him of being the guy who was behind the coup. They gave their full support to Samak Sundaravej, the ex-prime minister and the People Power Party. They claimed that PAD was destroying democracy in Thailand. The Red Shirt mainly consists of grass-root people, anti-royal activitist, and some hard-core extremists. They were believed to be supported and led by members of PPP, this might be why the anti-PAD group couldn’t stay over days and nights as same as PAD which has already established a self-economy in protesting area and received unstoppable donation from the supporters. Some of anti-PAD leaders include Jakkrapob Penkae, the former Prime Minister’s Office Minister, were also charged for giving a disrespectful speech about H.M. King Bhumibol and his family.
The violence happened when the Red Shirts marching to the Makhawal Bridge, the PAD original stronghold on the night of 26 August. By this incident, Samak declared the state of emergency in Bangkok area. The declaration was quite effective-less on PAD. Instead, it drove more people to join including student from colleges and universities. They finally formed a group called YoungPAD. Many activists believed that this was a good sign since there hadn’t been a political movement led by students since the tragic bloodshed in October 1973. However the anti-PAD group argued that this group of students were very small and their parents are already PAD members.
Many believe that both PAD and Anti-PAD group are eager for violence, but I think they are wrong. When PAD leaders heard that there would be anti-PAD protesting at the Thai parliament on 12 September, they canceled the YoungPAD protesting on the same date to avoid confrontation with the anti-PAD which could lead to violence.
Look at the current Thai government, it is so funny that a person who Thai Constitutional Court decided to be unqualified minister can quickly rejoin the cabinet (e.g. Chaiya Sasomsub). Fortunately Samak failed to become a prime minister again because of absent votes in the parliament. In Samak’s case, where he became unqualified because of his cookery TV show, many foreigners criticized Thai Courts for the decision, but I think the decision is fair enough based on the fact of conflict of interests and evidences of fraud found by the court.
It is funnier that Somchai Wongsawut, who should have fought with the rest of candidates to become a new prime minister. Instead, he and his supporters had to fight with Newin Chidchob, the hidden influential person and (believed-to-be) Khmer sorcerer who has been banned from political activities by the Constitutional Court in 2006. Somchai finally got Newin follower’s votes by exchanging with important seats in the cabinets. Probably Newin is the real boss in PPP while Thaksin’s power is declining.
Any interesting things/issues that we miss?
I don’t think I can tell what you miss. There were little things now and then, but as long as you can catch up with key stories, those are not important.
However, if you are Thai People and always miss most of the stories it is you that are interesting and in need of attention not the stories.
What will or might happen next?
PAD will continue to protest, but I think it will end before the royal funeral ceremony of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana one way or another. Many columnists and fortune tellers said that there will be bloodshed, but I don’t want so. Whatever, this puppet government won’t live long. Praew Se Ngern, the popular columnist and philosopher said in his article that the toxic tree had been cut down, but there were still some branches, bushes, and its roots left over. He suggested that PAD needed to exterminate them using new tactics or either stop for a while and regroup again when necessary. You also have to watch Thai military carefully; their action which claimed by PAD that it is stepping to stand on PAD’s side will also play a major role.
Most importantly, you are also the one who will decide what to happen next.
Should we concern about anything in particular? How should we act or react?
You should learn the purpose and goals of any groups, both PADs and anti-PADs. You should look deep into the core of the campaigns but not just the surface. You should read news from many sources not only one. You should decide what is right or what is wrong. Then you should take side or do nothing. But if you decide to do nothing from the start without learning anything, I have nothing to say but just sorry to the country.
Anything to Add?
There is a story… (told by Sondhi Limthongkul)
Sondhi Limthongkul
There was a rat. It heard a husband and a wife talking that tomorrow they will buy a trap.
The rat was so scared to be killed by this trap.
He ran to tell a chicken “Help Help, our house owners are going to kill me with a trap.”
A chicken replied “it is none of my business, I will pray for you then”
He then ran to a pig, the pig replied the same.
He then ran to a cow, the cow replied “I am fine and happy now, good luck Rat!”
One day, the trap was flipped!
The house owners went down stair to check it out.
But it was so dark at night, and a cobra was trapped by the trap not the rat.
The cobra bit the wife, and she was taken to a hospital
A doctor gave her an injection of serum, and told her to go home and have only energetic food
At home, the husband killed the chicken to make a cup of soup for his wife.
But her symptom didn’t get any better, so he had to take her to the doctor again.
The doctor asked him to pay for a cure, so he had to kill the pig and sell it in a market.
After it was sole in the market, his wife died. He needed to host a funeral
So many people came to the funeral so he needed to kill the cow to feed them finally….“Politics is not a far away stuff, and not boring either.”
“If you don’t play with Politics, it will play you”

I wrote this myself, actually this is supposed to be an interview section for my organization’s intranet, but the publisher decided to take it out after put it on for just 5 minutes. (She also removed 40% of text before putting it on).
Thank you for your comments anyway.

Congratulations on your nice website.
There have been a lot (really a lot) of Thaksin’s campaigns in the media. There are a few websites particularly in English to tell the world what are the actual facts and WHY hundreds of thousands of people join PAD to protest the tyrant proxy government.
Thaksin has hired international advertising companies to show his good sides and probably adversely smear on PAD.
May I just would like to warn you that some of your links to other websites can also be misleading. Wikipedia is full of misleading stuff and a lot of accusations on PAD while not telling the truth about Thaksin and his gang.

Please have a look. It is not the fight between rich and poor as the article says.

Ronayos, thank you for your comments and your reminder about Wikipedia, I have put the words “unreliable” at the link title
I also add your web site to the reference site.

Thank to Koon Vorapoap very much.
Please (and Let’s) try to target our English websites to any international news reporters, international news agents, foreign embassies in Thailand, overseas universities (southeast asian study faculities). I believe they already have some interest in Thailand but may not have the right source of info. Some Thaksin’s scholars are campaigning against PAD.
With your webboards, soon, you will be very busy defending the arguments. For me, I am too lazy and just want to present only important points.
However, our websites would help PAD core activists to explain WHY we have to fight Thaksin regime.
Best wishes.

I believe that PAD official email address is pad2551@gmail.com. but I never get any response from them anyway
Please check the site on my list for other PAD supporting site, if you know some more, don’t forget to let me know.

Thanks Vorapoal for the information. As I look at your site more detail, PAD focus more on demestic issues against Thaxsin Regime of corruption. A true democracy must respect Human Right, Free of Speech, Assembly, Religion, Equality and Foreign policy. When Gen. Chalonun became PM of Thailand before Samak, he announce to the world that he “respect human right’ not force to return the political refugee in Pitchabun, but when Samak came to power he Samak act like evil force thousand refugee back to LAOPDR communist regime by force and use dog chase. I want to thanks a million for those Thai leaders and citizen who help shelters many thousand Laotian refugee in the past thirty years. Vorapoan as you support for PAD what is your reaction for my comment? and What Gen. Chalonun stand now, with PAD or who?

Love Democracy,
I am very sorry to inform you that you seem to have no clear understanding about the true objectives of PAD. Their proposed system of government is nothing like “true democracy” as you refer to over and over in your postings. Just because PAD has the word democracy in their name/title doesn’t mean they are going to bring democracy to Thailand. What you are fighting for is a system similar to People’s Republic of China aka Communist mainland China. You are fighting to get rid of your freedoms……whooops. Are you scratching your head now??

Before one can replace a corrupt government, it is desirable to know what it will be replaced with. Just replacing one corrupt government with another government susceptible to the same corruption will make the revolution all for naught.
To know what kind of government set up would be the best, we first must examine what government is in it’s origins. Everyone has the right of self-defense of their property, person, and liberties. Their liberties end where the property, person, or liberties of another begin. When two or more agree to assist each other in self-defense when the time is necessary; that is to use force upon someone else when any party to the initial agreement has their rights violated; this is what we call government. That force is only used to make certain the aggressor discontinues their violation of others rights and makes restitution for damages done(justice). It is a voluntary collective right of self-defense among several parties. Any other use of force/government will inevitably violate the rights of others and be fundamentally immoral. Many years ago the United States was very close to this ideal. However, banking interests and their property violations combined with a lack of justice on the courts when dealing with such matters inevitably lead to a growth of corruption that brings us to this day. Now the United States has itself spread too thin as Americans carry the burden of paying for the world police while also paying for an overburdening government. Simultaneously international bankers and their politicians finance socialist regimes all around the world with the purchasing power they plunder from Americans and Asians through fixing interest rates, ‘foreign aid’, and ‘legally’ counterfeited money given as loans that are never expected to be paid back and guaranteed with the taxes of Americans when the inevitable default occurs. These forms of global welfare only bolster up the dictatorships our politicians claim they oppose.
When the very organization we institute to secure our rights begins to violate our rights, then it needs to be altered or abolished with a new institution to replace it built upon these principles. What makes something wrong for one person to do likewise makes the same thing wrong for 50 people to do, or 100 people to do. No majority vote will make it moral to steal property even if it is called “taxes”. No majority vote will make it moral to violate someone’s liberties by requiring they use a particular currency for their transactions(legal tender laws). No majority vote will make it moral for a person or institution to violate others property while placed in their care through fractional reserve banking(see Exodus 22:7-9). Likewise, what is moral for the individual to use force(i.e. self-defense of one’s person, property or liberties), it is likewise moral for that collective organization of force to do these things so long as it only violates the rights of others when it would be moral for the individual to do so. For instance, if someone stole from you, it would be moral for you to use force to defend your property or reclaim it as your own again. If you brought your friends and brothers to help you reclaim it, this would also be moral. If someone attacked you, it would be moral for you to use any force necessary to stop the aggressor from continuing to violate your person. If your friends also assisted in apprehending the aggressor, this would also be moral. Such use of force is justified.
If we wish to have a lasting government that allows for maximum prosperity, unprecedented economic growth, a society with high moral values, and cultural preservation, then force/government ought only do that which is moral for it to do. Anything more and it will be using force immorally.
Public education in the United States is a gross example of this. Currently the high school drop out rate is 32%. Before public education it was less than 1%. Every year the scores go lower and lower even while the government continues to lower the standards. Every year more looted money goes to fund education while it continues to decline in value and efficiency. The truth is for all that money spent we don’t have any higher education then before public education existed. In fact, a cross section analysis will likely reveal that every year our public high school goers are being less and less educated then in the past.
Private education, that is education which government has nothing to do with, will produce the most excellent results with very little capital input.
One other role that governments have had since the mosaic law is providing the standard for units of measurement. Defining things such as a meter, kilogram, etc. Likewise, resolving civil disputes arising from someone inaccurately claiming a measurement as something it isn’t is also a just purpose of government. Such as if I said I would sell you 5 lbs. of rice for $5, but really it was only 3 lbs. It would be violating your property($5) by not giving you the agreed upon exchange since two dollars were obtained by fraud.
But all government action ought only be defensive and not preemptive. Preemption is not something any individual in society has the right to do so it ought not be government’s right to do. For instance, I can’t violate my neighbors person by killing him just because there was the possibility he could have killed me. Not that he made any act of aggression, but that I simply believed the possibility was there. Taking action to violate my neighbors life, liberty, or property simply on a belief that he could violate mine is immoral and unjust. Another example would be telling my neighbor he can’t own a gun. Or telling him he can’t have certain chemicals in his house. Likewise, government taking preemptive measures is also unjust and immoral. To do so it must violate the life, property, or liberties of another. Regulations are such.
Finally, granting people or groups of people immunity from civil or criminal justice via corporations or other state-chartered ‘legal entities’ is equally a violation of the rights of all people those entities damage. Providing avenues for people to not face the natural or just consequences of their actions will only lead to moral degradation in such a society.

I am glad you guys kicked the corrupt Thaksin and thugs out of the office. However, they will keep make new group and switching banned members into a the new group.
I hope you guys address this problems, propose laws that will prevent banned government member enter into newly form group. Even if they changed there name or create a new group.Just proposed laws that banned them for longer term. I believe that if they keep changing group, you guys will be wasting time protesting, and it just a cycle over and over again.
This already happening. please read the article from here

Sure, good to get rid of corrupt politicians.
However PAD (and your) idea of “unrepresentative democracy” is a joke. There is imply no such thing – you are either a democracy (one man one vote) or you are not.
Democracy is simple – one man one vote. Anything other is NOT democracy. Call it what you will but please dont call it democracy.
PAD should be legally forced to remove the word Democracy from their name.
I am not against their ideas but to hide behind the word democracy is making Thailand a laughing stock. Education and wealth are IRRELEVANT when it comes to basic human rights – a vote for your own government.
Instead of MOANING about how uneducated people are why not GIVE them an education and thereby give them equal rights.
Finally to suggest that the red shirt supporters do not love the King is both absurd and insulting to the millions of rural Thais who love their King but at the same time love their freedom too.

So what is worse?
A “puppet government” (your words) that was voted for ..or
A government that no one voted for and has no mandate from a majority of people.
I think the world knows the answer.
PAD should be ashamed of themselves for dragging Thailand so low.
