Why us, but not them? (Letter to the Editor)

Pramote Nakornthab’s Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
Your editorial “Too Polite to Thailand” shows base characters of American journalism: arrogant, little informed, and too rat racing to verify facts; let alone educating oneself before educating the public.
I’ve just finished my compliments to youthful western diplomats residing in Bangkok on the very subject.
Here you are
“I have lived long enough in USA, one time at 202 Harvard Street,Cambridge, and in Europe to learn the true meaning of western hypocrisy both in word and in actions. I have lived through several airport closures there.
I recall the shutdown of numerous international airports in the US during the Reagan years due to the air traffic controllers strike which also resulted in a sympathy strike in Canada. I had also suffered several TOTAL airport closures, bus and train strikes in the UK, Italy and France. The reasons behind those were failure in negotiations on union wage dispute, a petty and selfish CASE in Thai views.”
The struggle of PAD has been on a loftier cause to safe our country from the enemy of democracy who usurped powers via rigged elections; who have destroyed our constitution, human rights and lives; plundered our treasury, ignored our laws and soiled every moral fiber in our society.
The PAD had not closed any airports. They have made it crystal clear from the start they only want to chase the illegitimate Somchai government. The Airport Authority of Thailand may continue flights and cargoes 24 hours a day since the runways and the air traffic control towers will not be touched and two full days were set apart between Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang demonstrations.
It was only through the government’s actions and black propaganda to discredit PAD that those youthful diplomats, who have lived through the compromises and accommodations with Thaksin’s remnants , have unwittingly consumed their propaganda with little education and ability to digest. They have chosen to raise their CASE and voice without looking at the experience and records of their own countries, comparing to ours. Indeed we have learned democratic protests and airport seizures from the west but we have upgraded it to be more perfect and more civilized in our country.
It is their turn to come and learn how PAD has managed the most peaceful, joyful and civilized political protest on earth for 193 days, including the most civilized behaviors at the two airports without burning a single chair or dirtying a toilet seat, let alone breaking doors and windows, turning cars and coaches up side down in flames as I had seen with my own eyes several times over in countries of Europe and America.
It is not prudent to condemn the protest or condone the government with only your personal convenience and your national interest (to doing business as usual with Thaksin) in mind. BS.!

I would like to ask everyone to compare recent events that happened in Iceland at the links below. Please read them because it’s very interesting but has not been much mentioned in pro-capitalist media. It is important for the people to fight the forces of corruption!
God bless PAD
