PAD protesters have established a sustainable economy in a protest area to support themselves and ASTV which may cost from 500,000THB to 1M THB (US$30,000+) or more for the busiest day.

Most of food and water supply are donated by a member of PAD, but you can also find them selling within the protest area.

What does ASTV do?

ASTV is the main media to broadcast PAD’s activities.

Since May25, 2008, we have been on 24-hour continuous (more than =three months) protest with live-televised broadcast through a satellite and cable TV network for the whole country against the repressed and twisted government’s Army of Media.

Sources of Income

Mainly, they are from donation either from PADs or those who support PADs but don’t want to show themselves. They also sold some t-shirts and clothes like these (in reasonable price)

There are also various items created by PADs for selling to others. Most of money, they give back to support PAD’s campaign. For example, paintings, Ratchadamnoen University Certificate, music CDs, photo with frame, and etc.

What about economy in PAD protesting area?

It likes a bazaar. There are other local seller selling food, various items and souvenirs related to PAD most importantly the plastic hand clapper. Some offers service like massaging, and portrait drawing. PAD also has their own medical facilities where most of medicines and first-aid kits are given for free.

There were some estimated figures about money flow in PAD economy, but I can’t find it yet. I will update again if I find the figure
