There is an uncofirmed news from the program “Sapha Tha Phra Arthit” on ASTV, that Thaksin quickly fled from China because the China government was considering to arrest him and sent him back to Thailand.
“Thaksin was also desperate at buying an air ticket, he hardly found any airlines willing to take him on board. However, he finally got a flight to Dubai under one condition that he could stay only in an airport hotel and couldn’t enter the city”, according to the news source.
Thaksin is now back to China (Update 12/Nov)
BEIJING (AFP) – Beijing confirmed on Tuesday that ousted Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra had been in China recently as he seeks a new home following Britain’s decision to revoke his visa.
“Mr Thaksin was in China on vacation. I don’t have any further information on that,” foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang told reporters when asked about reports Thaksin was in China.

However, when the couple travelled from London to China on business, the Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, took the opportunity to revoke their visas under rules banning foreigners convicted of serious crimes. Her staff warned airlines not to let the Thaksins board flights to Britain.
The Home Office said it could not comment on individual case for “data protection reasons” but a source confirmed the visas were revoked, which can be done if foreign nationals have been convicted of serious crimes. Any new visa application by the Thaksins “would be considered on its merits in line with the UK’s international commitments”, the source said, although it is highly unlikely one would succeed.
Should the couple try to return to Britain without a valid visa – perhaps to visit their £4.5m mansion in Weybridge, Surrey, or £3m flat in South Kensington, London – they would be illegal immigrants and could be deported back to Thailand.
In an email to airlines, Andy Gray, the immigration liaison manager at the British embassy in Bangkok, said: “The UK Border Agency has revoked the UK visas held by the following Thai nationals: Thaksin Shinawatra [and] Potjaman Shinawatra. The UK visas contained in the passports of the individuals are no longer valid for travel. Airlines are advised not to carry these passengers to the UK.”

Philippine - Officially confirmed, not advising Thaksin to enter the country
Philippines President Gloria Arroyo’s spokesman said Monday Thaksin would be turned away if he applied for asylum, although the country said it hadn’t received any request.
“He will be courteously informed that he will not be received here,” spokesman Jesus Dureza told local television.

Malaysia – Officially confirmed, transit is fine, others… that matter doesn’t come up yet.
Malaysia on Tuesday refused to rule out granting political asylum to ousted and convicted former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, but said he is free to transit through the country.Foreign Minister Rais Yatim said Thaksin — who is a wanted man in Thailand — has not approached Malaysian authorities to seek permission to come to Malaysia. But the government will have no problem if he wants to transit through Malaysia, Rais told reporters.
“We have got nothing against Thaksin … If Thaksin wants to pass through Kuala Lumpur I think it shouldn’t damage anybody. But if he wants to stay here, that’s a different thing. We will have to see the merits of his case,” he said.

Where Thaksin might end up?
If he doesn’t make it home in the near future, former Premier Thaksin Shinawatra may accept the invitations from leaders of one of these five countries to become honorary citizens or economic advisers. Do you want to guess which one of these is his real favorite:
- Bermuda. A British overseas territory in the North Atlandtic Ocean, about 1,770 kms northeast of Miami, Florida. It has 138 islands, with a total area of 53.3 square kilometres. Population: 66,163.
- The Bahamas. An independent, sovereign English-speaking country, consisting of 2,000 cays and 700 islands. It is located in the Atlantic Ocean southeast of the US. Population: About 330,000.
- Central African Republic. A landlocked country in Central Africa. One of the poorest countries in the world. Population: 4.2 million.
- Chad. Located next to Central African Republic. Sometimes referred to as “Dead Heart of Africa” because of its distance from the sea and largely desert climate. Population: 10 million.
- Togo. A narrow country in West Africa. Mostly dependent on agriculture. Population around 6 million.
The list may not be limited to these five countries. If the world thinks Thaksin won’t be returning to Thailand to fight the series of cases against him, more countries may try to lure him to become their citizen. That should keep Thaksin busy for many years to come.

Bermuda, Bahamas, Commonwealth of Nations?
It is still problematic, that those countries are a member of the commonwealth of nations despite announcing before that they were welcome Thaksin to be a honour citizen of their countries, but I don’t think neither Thaksin and his wife will go there. Nothing to shop, very small country, very few people, unlikely that Thaksin will enjoy living there.
Dubai, the final destination
“If he can’t go anywhere, he plans to stay long in Dubai,” one Thaksin aide said on condition of anonymity.

Dubai is one of the seven emirates the most populous city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is located along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian Peninsula. The city of Dubai is sometimes called “Dubai city” to distinguish it from the emirate. (from wikipedia)
Luxury city to live, far away from Thailand, a suitable place for Thaksin indeed!
