People’s Alliance for Democracy Announcement on the Ultimatum for the Prime Minister to Resign Immediately and Without Condition
The People’s Alliance for Democracy has been rallying continuously since May 25, 2008 for 2 main objectives; With deepest respect, People’s Alliance for Democracy Thursday, November 25, 2008
- To prevent the rewriting of the 2007 Constitution by the proxy government of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra who are trying to amend the charter to whitewash the crimes committed by Thaksin and his cronies and to destroy the country’s judiciary system. The PAD also strives to prevent the proxy government from abolishing the Privy Council, a move which the PAD considers to be a direct violation of His Majesty the King’s authority. The current Thai Parliament is also considered to be under Thaksin’s complete control. It has committed various wrongdoings and violated election laws, yet continues to claim it represents the people of Thailand. But in truth, the proxy Parliament is a sale to any highest bidding politician. The Constitution court’s imminent deliberation of a various party dissolution cases against several of the government coalition partners is proof enough of the fact that Thakin’s proxy government is not a truly ‘constitutional’ government of Thailand.
- To drive out the killer government that has shamelessly acted as a nominee for fugitive Thaksin Shinawatra. The government is clearly behind the ruthless killings of Thai citizens, manipulated state media, supports the destruction of the Thai judiciary system, exploits the country’s national budget, condones lese majeste actions, lacks any ethical standing and therefore is deemed to be an illegitimate government which is not fit to administer the Kingdom.
For the above reasons the People’s Alliance for Democracy has been rallying peacefully and without arms, a right which is sanctioned by the 2007 Constitution Article 63. Article 70 stipulates that a Thai citizen has the responsibilities to protect the 3 pillars of the country; the nation, religion and the King and the nation’s constitutional monarchy.
However, during the course of the rally the lives and safety of supporters of the People’s Alliance for Democracy have been in constant jeopardy. The government is also clearly involved in masterminding various violent attacks against the PAD. It has also turned a blind eye when the PAD was attacked with weapons of war on more than 10 occasions. The ruthless attacks have resulted in countless injuries and 4 deaths. Several attacks were also targeted at the ASTV headquarters in an attempt to prevent that station from broadcasting live the PAD rally. The government has yet to take any responsibility for the underhanded sabotage attempts.
Three Senate committees, tasked with investigating the violence and bloodshed of the October 7th incident, have found that the PM Somchai Wongsawat and his Cabinet ministers are to be held responsible for the injuries and deaths of the protesters. Their findings coincide with that of the National Human Rights Commission. Premier Somchai must take responsibility for the tragedy by resigning immediately and without any condition.
The People’s Alliance for Democracy has called for a final mass rally to stop the traitorous government and proxy Parliament on November 23, 2008 at 2 p.m. The final rally is well into its 50th hour and the supporters of the PAD have been pressuring the traitorous government to step down with peaceful means. Armed with only the plastic hand clappers, the PAD protesters have marched to various key locations including Parliament, Finance ministry, the Metropolitan Police Bureau and the government’s temporary seat at Don Muang Airport. However, to no avail, the proxy government has failed to show any sign of remorse or any intention to step down as demanded by the PAD. In addition, it continues to cling on to power and is determined to amend the charter for the interests of its puppet master and his associates.
The People’s Alliance for Democracy is left with no choice but to step up its peaceful rally by blocking off access to the Suvarnabhumi Airport. This is considered to be an ultimatum for Somchai Wongsawat and the Cabinet to resign immediately and without any condition.
The people’s alliance apologizes for any inconvenience the closure of the Suvarnabhumi Airport may cause to the public and international visitors to the Kingdom of Thailand. But the PAD believes the measure is crucial to bring an end to the traitorous-killer government.
The PAD is calling for the public from all walks of life to join the PAD movement and call for the current administration to resign immediately to protect Thailand from more harm and to restore morals to the Thai society without any further delay.

Dear People Against Democracy
I see PAD didn’t learned the lesson out from forcing the closure of Phukets airport last time. I and may other peoples around me are starting to believe the Mr. Thaksin was the lesser of 2 evils.
But was PAD is running now with forcing the new closure of airports is against the King, against Thailand, even it is against PAD interests. Sorry, but when the leaders of PAD are starting to use their brain? When do they want to do something, where you can see a golden outlook for Thailand? From my point of view, they are not fighting for Thailand interests, but only for their personal interests independent of Thailands face to the world.

If the ideas were only from the leader alone, did you think other fellow PAD would agree with that? Thousand people wouldn’t have shown up at the airport if they didn’t agree with the ideas.
For me, as a blogger here. I believe that it is PAD’s right to protect our country by taking all corrupt government and politician out of the orbit. It is not your country, you didn’t know what we are heading to with this proxy government. Do you know the evil cycle?.. We will never have a chance to break it out if we didn’t really try to.. The longer we wait, the harder it will be, and the evil government will never teach their votes to break it out
A step back is inevitable, we wish that to happen now instead of happening with our descendants.
I do feel sorry for those who are struck at the airport,
from what I know there are some foreigners beginning to enjoy with the concert, music, and hand clappers
We will know all about this at the end of the story, I am sure. If PAD to be blamed for your loss.. blame PAD… you can

Dear Thomas,
So what’s your solution to the crisis?
Reply to this comment
No, I don’t have.
But as you can see, it was starting an interesting discussion. And people speaking with each other may find solutions. On our level as on a higher level.
Demonstrations are a good and a proven way of showing different opinions. But everyone should ask himself, which impacts his demonstrations has.
Blocking airports (not only demonstrating in an airport) is impacting many thousands of people: tourists which spent or wanted to spent a lot of money in Thailand, Thai companies like the airways, Thai nationals which want to do their jobs etc. So, this has a very high impact to Thailand, to the picture of Thailand and to the Thai people themselves. And here I’m asking, is THIS STYLE of demonstration still a correct way and is it the only way? I don’t think so.
to Vorapoap
Yes, I know a lttle bit the story of the evil. My father was already staying in Thailand before Mr. Thaksin was nominated as PM. When I’m remembering well, Mr. Thaksin was already charged in a case of corruption, before he was nominated as a PM the first time. (Ths case was never finalized) I was wondering, how people could vote for him. One answer was, no joke: he can take care his family, so he can take care Thailand. You are right I’m a farang, but I’m connected with Thailand longtime and I like Thailand very much. Therefore I don’t like to see, what is running now. When you are reading the comments and the editorials in Thai newspapers, it seems, that there are some Thai nationals, which don’t aggree on blocking airports, too.
PAD claims to be against corruption. I like to hear. Here up-country corruption is everywhere, starting in the schools and going up to … All parties (nearly for every election) are giving money and of course everyone is taking it. But as they are getting money from everyone, they are still voting whomever they want. I heard in my life many good sounding promises of politicians (not only Thais), but later… If PAD is getting the governmental power and there are really changes coming, without violence and without major impacts to economy etc. I will salute PAD. But in the moment PAD behaviour upsets many Thai nationals in my environment.
Thanks to all, which continued the discussion. It was a pleasure to read the comments.
Now Regards
Thomas

Unlike the government who fired teargas explosives to PAD’s rallying protestors without warnings AT SEVERAL SEPARATE INCIDENCES, resulted in limbs shattered of several and deaths of Miss BOW Angkana and Pol.Lt.Maj. JARB, Methee, PAD has rallied peacefully for six months and step up the protest one after another when failing with warning of the government not to amend the laws for Thaksin. The government has proved it self a civilian dictator using police statem. Therefore, it is legitimate to depose the undue government with such peaceful disobedience.

Vorapoap,
If similarly large-scale protest occurred in either Japan, Canada or Australia, at least the real and responsible Prime Minister would have stepped down unconditionally on the ground of “lack of leadership to rule and provide the country with peace and stability”, whether the protesters are right or wrong. Then pass the torch to anybody in the same party or coalition.
However, this is Thailand where PM is the proxy for a fugitive criminal, the key fact that Thomas purposely fails to mention.

You’re saying “from what I know there are some foreigners beginning to enjoy with the concert, music, and hand clappers”. Wow, you must be really happy that there are a handful of people who are NOT throwing stones at your fellow protesters!
My ex-girlfriend runs a one-woman tour agency on Koh Chang. I supported her buying it from her former boss but she is determined to pay back my loan to her as soon as possible. She desperately needs a good Tourist season now. You’ve just taken that away. Do you think she will understand? No way. And that’s just 1 story.
I agree with some points of PAD, but hurting the Tourism industry is the worst thing PAD could do. You’ve just lost the supoprt and the respect of a huge part of the country. People who are working hard to make a living on tourism.
Saying that “A step back is inevitable” does not justify a move like this either. There are other ways, ways that must be targeted directly at the prime minister. Surround him wherever he’s going, and he cannot do else but talk with you. And where is the army now, who helped you oust Thaksin?
So, move your asses away from the airport, as you’re only losing the respect of all foreigners who love coming to Thailand and the honest people who are working hard to make Thailand’s tourism experience the best there is.

Since PAD is doing the worst thing to the tourism industry, may I ask what you would respond if, like Samak, Somchai declares a state of emergency and orders a bloody crackdown on PAD?
Reply to this comment
Don’t ask ME that question, but ask it to YOURSELF. By occupying the airport, PAD has just taken the least effective and worst possible action it can.
A bloody crackdown would be seriously wrong, but PAD is challenging the government with the wrong kind of protest.
All I’m saying is: DO protest, but take your protests ELSEWHERE, you’re hurting your country and people! There are many other options.

To be recognised by the world, PAD and allies should adhere to democracy dealings. This may be hard, but democracy is the only way out. The way these hooligans are acting is a disgrace to Thailand and his Majesty, and has nothing to do with democracy. Including people who have nothing to do with Thailand’s politics will have serious economic consequences. If this alliance is ever to deliver a political leader I will think Thailand will be in dire straits. Start using your brains. I am afraid for Thailand’s future. While I am at it, accepting money from pensioned people to fund your own incapability, you are a disgrace.

You mentioned the term “democracy” a number of times. Sounds great. But what does democracy mean according to you?
P.S. Vorapoap, please just let them explain.
Reply to this comment
Democracy is a form of government in which power is held by people under a free electoral system. Even though there is no universally accepted definition of ‘democracy’ .(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy)
Thaksin’s democracy was not great, I admit it was bad, but it was an elected government by the people in the same way as many previous governments were (buying votes). But to have a military overthrow it was wrong, a joke to democracy, a dagger in the back of the majority of voters. Now again a small elite of so called royalists (rather the snobby elite) are trying to do the same and install what? “It has openly called for the military and Thailand’s traditional elite to take a greater role in politics”… come on!!! Who will benefit?… Did you know that poverty incidence in Thailand rose from 11.4 percent in 1996 to 13 percent in 1998 as an additional 1.1 million people fell below the poverty line… this is happening again with the new economic crisis. These elites are only interested in their own welfare. They will make things worse in the looming (already here) crisis.

Jan:
Do you accept fradulent elections and corruptions that follow after as democracy? If so, your idea is dangerous to democracy per se.
Wikipedia’s meaning of democracy is correct but it is put under an assumption that the representatives really come from the mind and thought of the elector.
I do not think your understanding of democracy holds true in other developed societies e.g. Canada,
Australia, and Taiwan. In Taiwan, the Taiwanese call their representatives or MPs in the Legislative Yuan as 民意代表, read MIN YI DAI BIAO. They do not simply call “member of parliament” for the sake of having been elected.
民 = people
ั意 = mind, thought, way of thinking
代表 = represent, representative
So the Taiwanese elect the candidates who truly represent their minds and thoughts, not just for the sake of going to the poll and superficially call it “democracy”.
Big different from your and most Thais’ superficial concept, eh? Do you know that in Thailand there are not only vote buying that motivate people to vote? Did you ever go to witness the election on the ground level upcountry? I did. They are deadly, you know. Is voting when guns are put over your head democratic to you?
Moreover, the genuine democracy must also contain the rule of law (judiciary), under which everyone in the society is treated equally.
Does Thaksin respect i? In the beginning, when he was back in Thailand, he said he was ready to fight his case in court. But once the court has decided, he accused the court of being politically motivated to remove him from politics. In addition, he fled to Britain, praising Britain as the model of Democracy for his asylum application. Britain later barred him from re-entry. Thaksin then abruptly changed tone and attack Britain as “forgetting democracy”.
My questions to you….is this fair to the poor who are financially not able to leave the country if they were similarly alleged? And do you still trust Thaksin to run Thailand?
In Taiwan, Chen Shuibian had won 2 consecutive landslide elections but he was sentence to 7 years in jail on corruption charge similar to Thaksin’s? Chen Shuibian remains popular among Pro-Independence electors, you know. Is jailing a former elected leader undemocratic to you, Jan?
You said: “Did you know that poverty incidence in Thailand rose from 11.4 percent in 1996 to 13 percent in 1998 as an additional 1.1 million people fell below the poverty line… this is happening again with the new economic crisis. These elites are only interested in their own welfare.”
—-> The elites may not care for the poor’s welfar, but do you think Thaksin does? Are you also aware that in 1997, the poor could still go back to farm their land for survival. The agricultural sector remained strong since their household debts were low. In 2008, they can no longer do so either because their offsprings have lost tie to their homeland or because their debts has grown so an alarming rate that the farm income cannot sustain since they were encouraged by Thakinomics’s excessive consumerism to create miraculous GDP growth. In the meantime, Thaksin’s wealth had increased exponentially. His ShinCorp sale price to Temasak should attest to that. Is Thaksin still good for the poor to you?
Lastly, I do not support coup d’etat whatsover. However, did you remember what was going on the night of Sep 19, 2006? Thaksin was in NY and preparing a bloody crackdown on PAD protesters. Proof? Check out the pic below.
http://images.hunsa.com/home/hotnews_092006/taksin_20092006_01.jpg
Jan, do you remember what he said in shaken voice in the state of emergency? Is the order by an elected leader to kill dissidents democratic to you?
Reply to this comment
There is clearly no law and order in Thailand anymore. The PAD has become a law unto themselves.
Holding the tourists “hostage” in the airport is the nastiest thing PAD could have done.
The present government was given the mandate by the people. Just because some middle class Bangkokians decide they do not like the PPP government, doesn’t mean they can overthrow them. They do not stand for the whole nation. And please do not stop using the king as a shield. The royal family and the army needs to stop interfering in politics. Royal families and military should have no say in politics at all. The military should be under civilian control. The royal family should not be seen to take sides at all.
As much as I do not agree with Thaksin, the PAD is just as bad.

The assumption is that the educated middle class has the right to determine the outcome of a so called democratic vote. Be it bought votes, sincere votes, whatever. They will determine the will of the people? The ones (educated middle class), have no idea what democracy really means. They have no global knowledge of politics, the history of politics, the rise and fall of regimes. They are ignorant. Yet they feel they should to be the ones to insure Thailands democratic and free way of life? The PAD is not a legitimate representation of Thai politics. Their latest actions of seizing Bangkoks international airport did so much damage to the Thai economy, and credibility as a democratic country. As with all radicals, “the end justifys the means”. I am an American who loves “The Land Of Smiles, and this causes me much pain for the true Thai people.

While I do believe that the PAD has a right to peaceful assembly and to express its concerns witht the current government, I do not support the PAD’s goals or objectives.
As many who read this website are not open to opposing viewpoints; I caution you to continue reading at your own risk.
Unfortunately the PAD has long since abandoned its stated goals and has evolved into a Maoist Revolutionary organization espousing a brand of Elitist Fascism.
Thailand, a country that at the turn of the 20th century was second only to Japan in development, has failed for a generation or more to develop honest, sincere leaders who will put the country before their own interests. This is a sad state of affairs.
A review of the PAD’s leadership causes suspicion, especially Mr. Sondhi’s financial dealing with Kruangthai Bank. I ask would many of his devotees receive the same treatment on non-performing assets as Mr. Sondhi?
Also, an empirical observer must question the motives of Mr’s Sondhi and Chamlong with regards to there former association and support of Mr. Thaksin? Could it be that they were not allowed a seat at the table as Thailand has been pillaged?
What is the true nature of the recent clashes with Police? While the loss of life and limb is regrettable and my deepest condolences go out to the families of the victims. One must ask if these people were pawns in a more devious plot. How come you never see the leaders of the PAD of the frontlines of these assaults, unlike Gandhi, King, Malcom X, etc. who would stand in front of their followers leading as more through action than word?
What about the non-violent claims of the PAD? On more than one occasion the PAD has used intimidation, threats of violence, and actual violence to further its ambitions. Case in point is the refusal to allow traffic to pass its demonstrations even after the court order it to do so; the attack on NBT, the appropriation of city buses, and now the unlawful take over of a major international airport.
The PAD has consistently shown that they pay no mind to the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness of others. In fact, the PAD has become the tyrant affecting the lives and livelihoods of millions of common people for whom the PAD does not care for. In fact, the PAD should be spending more of its energies fostering grass roots campaigns to ensure that the endemic vote buying and influence pedaling is contained during the next election cycle. Unfortunately it has not done so; instead the PAD is pedaling a brand of fascism that claims that if you are not educated to their standards you should not be entrusted with suffrage. One might be cynical enough to infer that there are more racist undertones to the PAD’s new politics proposal, especially when you look at the ethnic make up of the professional and business community in Thailand.
It is truly a sad state of affairs for a wonderful country and a wonderful people. For Thailand to be blessed with so much bounty only to have it squandered due to corrupt and ineffectual leadership is a crime which I hope one day soon the people of Thailand will address. The enemy is from within and it names are greed, corruption, elitism, poverty, ignorance. Unfortunately, I have not heard a proposal from the PAD that would start to correct any of these issues. This is a shame, what Thailand needs today are leaders not a collection of Thug and Hooligans (the government) and Bullies (the PAD).
To paraphrase the words of Stephen A. Douglas, “there are only two sides to this question. Every man must be for”… Thailand… “or against it. There can be no neutrals in this war; only patriots and traitors.” My question is what do you do when both the government and the PAD are traitors?

Thailand need a true Democracy by Respect Human Right, Freedom of speech, press, assembly, and equality justice for all. I hope PAD will bring the True Democracy to Save the Beautiful Kingdome of Thailand to be a role model for it niegbor countries like communist LaoPDR, Dicatorship regime like Myammar (Burma), and Weak Kingdom of Combodia under Hun Sen authoratalian regime.

What the PAD are doing is an absolute disgrace. Shooting wildly in to crowds as we see on the tv. Holding up pictures of The King as they commit crimes is disgusting and he should not be used to justify the terrible damage the PAD is doing to Thailand’s economy.
This is hurting the whole country. Go back to your villages and plant harvest your rice. Hang your heads in shame. why should a few 1000 paid for people be able to bring down a government elected by Millions yes millions of citizens.

Ever heard of the saying, “An eye for an eye makes the world blind?”
I was a neutral party from the beginning, but this recent action just went out of hand.
If you all are trying to get your point and objectives across (which I do understand, will benefit your country from corruption), violence and unnecessary interruptions will ALWAYS end up in despair.
Obviously, this has caused a HUGE woo-ha in the world, and the reputation of Thailand’s stability has dropped a whole lot down. I really hope you all realize that there are other ways to bring your country to prosperity, but this is making it worse.
Please withdraw your people from the airport to save your country’s economy and reputation.
Just my 2 cents of thoughts.
but yea, i hope you all bring true democracy to your country but in not harmful means that will harm and bring inconvenience to the innocent parties. By doing this, your right actions will be seen as wrong.
Hope you will make the right decision.

Looks like there is a set-up here. How come does the number of those who say “Oh, I used to be a PAD supporter but I now hate PAD and will only talk bad about PAD because my blah..blah is stuck in the airport” suddenly surge now? It comes at the same time Khun Veera of FM96.5 received a number of eerily similar phones-in talking almost from an identical script …… so many that he also spotted irregularity yesterday.
Most foreigners that I am familiar with usually do not possess anti-PAD or anti-Thaksin or anti-royalist sentiment in particular. In contrast, our fellow Thais from Sameskybook.com or Prachatai with good command of English usually do and react overly fiercely to the incidence.
Interesting!

A question for PAD:
Let us suppose that the PM of Thailand steps down and elections are held.
Most surely Thailand will re-elect Thaskin’s party.
Then what? We do this again?

By whom was Thaksin proven guilty? He has been charged but he hasn’t been justly convicted. Yes, he has fled your corrupt country because its pretty obvious that he will not get a fair trial. After all he was deposed by the CNS…what makes anyone think he would be treated fairly under the current political climate? And Thaksin’s so called “puppet brother in-law” is only in power because your PAD pushed for Samak to be ousted. It was the National Assembly of Thailand that overwhelmingly voted for Somchai to replace Samak. That’s democracy…that’s the way it works……but you PAD people still aren’t happy and now you want Somchai gone because he’s related to Thaksin and B.S. like that. Even your King Bhumibol of Thailand issued a royal proclamation confirming Somchai Prime Minister. If you PAD people want things done your way then maybe you ought to annex Bangkok and turn it into your own nation and rid yourselves of “the uneducated farmers of rural Thailand” since it’s the rural population (the people who sweat to feed you) that you constantly blame for being too stupid to vote the way you want them to vote. PAD are all willing to discount the voices of Thailand’s rural population anyway. Actually, you want to discount all of Thailand except BANGKOK and the Muslim’s in the South. PAD (the yellow people) say “Representative democracy is not suitable for Thailand”….so don’t tell me all your protesting has to do with returning Democracy to Thailand. Under PAD elections would only account for 30% of the Parliament. The other 70% would be appointed by whom they see deserving. What kind of communist crap is that? PAD has nothing to do with democracy so don’t be fooled. After they are done overthrowing the current government you better watch out because they’ll go after Cambodia next…yeah, PAD wants war with them too over Preah Vihar. But first PAD will start killing their countrymen when they don’t get their way. PAD already has shed the first blood on September 2nd when PAD thugs attacked a pro government crowd and killed a counter PAD demonstrator. In this video footage PAD thugs are again shooting into a crowd of Thai citizenry who are probably just a little pissed off that PAD is blocking the roads and access to their livelihoods…airports, tourists, etc. Its only logical that the “Motorbike Taxi guys” would be pissed off that they can’t work because the streets are blocked and the airports are closed?? But PAD members respond by burning their motorbikes and swinging metal pipes at them. Hahaha..idiots. PAD also likes intimidating journalists; so you are all lucky to even be watching this footage. Oh well….if you call this mess democracy…we all better move to Myanmar, or North Korea. The young people of Bangkok are being fooled to join PAD….because “its cool” & “yellow is in” PAD has got these young followers brainwashed a la Mao style! The protesters at the airport are really fighting to give up their rights & to throw Democracy in the trash. Its too sad that many of you dont see the TRUTH.
Read the above post by GREG…..that guy seems to have this whole thing figured out.
Anyway, most of you PAD lackies won’t read this post because its too long…..jut like you all don’t take the time to figure out what PAD is really about before you throw on your yellow shirt and go marching through the streets with your hooligan friends.

So what do you offer for me?
When will you respect me?

不能说的事实,
-For extradition to succeed, the UK extradition courts must agree that Thaksin’s crime can be considered one in Britain as well. (I guess the UK didn’t see it that way of Thaksin would have been hand delivered to prosecutors in Thailand)
-But there are other factors the courts must consider, such as whether the cases against Thaksin are politically motivated, as Thaksin has claimed. (You don’t think its politically motivated?? Of course you don’t…you’re a PAD supporter).
-If it appears the request to extradite is in order to punish him for political opinions, extradition is barred. (That’s pretty obvious)
The Brits revoked his visa to solve a political dilemma…but did they extradite him back to Thailand?? No they did not. They allowed him to leave.
But Thaksin really isn’t the issue….the issue is the PAD elitists grab for power & its effort to silence the majority because as PAD claims “they’re too stupid to vote”. Let them grow your rice……but don’t give them any say in the politics of Thailand???
You PAD supporters are easily fooled….Thaksin is a diversion. He’s the excuse they use to fool people. It’s the Prime Minister’s spot PAD wants along with 70% of parliament stocked by appointed PAD loyalists….then they’ll have total domination. Now go put your yellow shirt on and help PAD rob the Thai people of their rights. You can start with beating up taxi drivers…..or just shoot them.
Oh, and like “livingston” asked you:
“What can PAD offer the rural population/the majority?”
(Besides robbing them of their right to vote and sweeping the peasants under the rug)

I’m writing here as a visitor from a not too developed country, who paid a bunch of money in advance to visit your country.
I had a dream once to visit the land of smiles and after years of hard work, living simple life, finally I was in the doors of my dream.
I planned to travel to Thailand, visit the rural lands, enjoy the different taste of life, which seems to be cleaner and relaxing, which we have forgotten and support the local people.
Now my flight is canceled, my holiday is over, I lost such a huge amount of trust, respect and money, I never plan to visit again your country.
Never ever.
Thailand for me is on the level of the darkest African countries now and yes, I know your goals. I know your naive intentions to establish a clean government without violence and turn back to the old golden ages of kingdom when the stupid and worthless, so called “democracy” did not exists but you missed a point.
Your government piss you off, they can survive without tourism, back in the history the Thai Kingdom was a strong country without tourism. You damage only the faith and wallet mainly of the foreigners and you cause hundred thousands of Thai people loose the job in short term. In long term no one can win, you all will loose but government will laugh at you and still survive.
And talking about the foreigners: your PAD caused so high damage for me personally I hardly recover the faith and can not plan again a dream like the Thai holiday was.
This is my personal opinion.

One more thought: the problem of the PAD are the corrupt members of the government. So what are you doing at the airports? Why do you keep this stupid movement what you did for years without any result? This program leads nowhere.
You have the power, kill em all. They are your problem, eradicate them, the corrupt politicians.
Just look back at the history: without violence there is no revolution. Gandhi was the only person with peaceful revolution with incredible support but that’s all, there isn’t any victory elsewhere.
The government in my country is more corrupt than in yours if it’s possible to compare the levels of the corruption even. They sold the whole country, including forests, lands, factories and even houses to foreign investors and we are slaves in our own country, a sometime strong agricultural country have to import the food. We protested for years, hundreds of thousand protesters on the streets and the police violently attack each time, shooting rubber bullets and teargas grenades into the people, smashed the people with metal sticks breaking stones, skulls causing hundreds of serious injuries, blinded people. The result is zero.
Why? Because we did not kill the government yet. They rule and laugh at us and the country goes deeper and deeper in debt. We struggle in the life every day because the nation is disrupted to parties and people fight each other already instead of the government.
That’s the way of life.
Your way is the way of poverty and isolation. Learn from the history, maybe this is the last chance.

Hi there,
the only thing i have to say is: No tourist hostages. And it is nothing other at this time.
If your intention is a friendly one, let the tourists (including my family) out of this country by the airport…
It is to far to walk to germany…
no greetings

You have caused my husbands business a great amount of financial distress and we are verging on bankruptcy all because he wanted to send thousands of people to your country on holiday! The damage resonates far beyond Thailand and you are the cause of it – total and utter ignorance and the pathetic photos I have seen of your ’scary’ presence just tells me that the army and everyone else is in on it – so you are all complicit.
In case you have not noticed there is a massive economic crisis going on and it is affecting everyone – but actually I forget that people like PAD are very good at corruption themselves – being army friendly and all – I live in a country that also starts with T and is very similar to Thailand in respect of its ability to steal from its people.
You ignorant thugs will be hearing from my lawyers – I will pursue all of your leaders until we have recoverd our losses and anyone else who would like to join me please let me know – PAD has no idea of democracy – neither does Thaksin but if you are so confident that you should be in power – WIN AN ELECTION THEN.
yes of course you wont publish this because you know what I am saying is true and you are worried about the backlash – but believe me it is on its way.

and I should add that there will not be one tour operator from my country that will ever send one single person on holiday to your country ever again! And this country has 80 million people and daily flights to Bangkok so really what do you think that you are achieving.
I used to go on holiday to Thailand all the time myself. I will never set foot in it ever again after what you people have done to our lives (as if it was not already difficult enough with a massive economic crisis ripping through the world like a tidal wave).

You guys have the right to protest, all for it, I am from the US and I believe in democracy but do you have to take over the airport? The economy is already damaged as it is from protesting, why make it worse by cutting the lifeline of the tourism industry by taking over the Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueng Airport and forcing them to close down. Yes by protesting there you want to force the Prime Minister to step down and have a new government, but what good is a new government if you ruin the economy and Thailand’s image.
I go to school in the US and haven’t seen my mom (who lives in Thailand) in four years and was planning on visiting her on December 13th and I hope to God the whole situation is resolved and the protesters clear out because I have a connection in Suvarnabhumi to Chiang Mai.
P.S. No matter who is in power, there will always be some group who is opposed to it. I am sure a lot of people in the US hate Barack Obama (yet he got elected) but you still don’t see rioting in the streets trying to force him to step down. Sorry to say, but that is how democracy works.

I saw, the PAD blocked the Muslims also who are headed to Mecca.
Can you imagine what does it mean for your country? The Hajj is the highest pillar of the Islam and loosing the pilgrimage is unforgivable.
Be prepared for serious bomb attacks all around the country.
Crazy fools, it was the PAD’s worst mistake.

You are absolutely wrong about this.. PAD has stated clearly since the first date at the Suvarnabhumi airport that they support the flight to bring fellow muslims to Mecca. Don’t you know that many PAD from southern province are muslims?.. They understand this fact… even no Muslim in PAD, as a buddhist, we are happy to help them about this.. Now Muslim people are flying to Mecca..
At about 12:20 Guff Air has taken around 50 Muslims to Mecca from the airport.. the other will go with the Iran air. It is the matter of technical problem that cause such delay.

PAD People’s Alliance for Dictatorship. In the last election you took part and lost – now you are being bad losers and on top of that terrorising innocent people who need to travel.
PAD have absolutely no right to seize the airports. Peaceful protests is one thing TERRORISM is another. See the definition of terrorism – “Terrorism is the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion. There is no internationally agreed definition of terrorism. Most common definitions of terrorism include only those acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to a lone attack), and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants.” Alas – airline passengers and international tourists are non-combatants in your disagreements with the Thai government so leave the airports immideately and save what little dignity your party have left.

sorry but that doesn’t wash.
The big problem in this whole mess is the kon Thai’s inability to be honest with themselves. From top to bottum, if you get my drift.
For instance, the PAD leader Somsak says this is a fight to death. Independent observers know he will cut and run when the bullets starts flying at Don Mueang leaving the grandmothers to take the bullets. Such a statement makes him responsible if the situation deteriorates to a bloodbath.
Will he take responsibility? No.
The best scenario is that the protesters leave the airports, the PAD leaders are jailed, the do-nothing Army generals get sacked for not having the best interests of Thailand in their actions, and the people that the kon Thai elected to govern can govern.
Hopefully Thailand will be up to this challenge.

PAD had always talk about the elected PM is is no good or so on… Does the PAD have a solution themselves or can they find a qualified person to lead? PAD should offer solutions to governement instead of asking people to seat @ the airport having a party with food and singing sessions. I urged the protestors to leave the aiport and let fellow Thai people and get on their living or earnings. Tourism plays a important role in their economy.

According to EU,
As one PAD, we would like to ask EU… Why don’t you do something much more simple than demand PAD to get out from the airport.. For example, demand Somchai to resign… Why don’t you condemn Somchai government for what he have done on October 7.
If you can answer such questions, then voice to us again.
Thank you for start looking at us when your people are beginning to lose benefits.

If you are a group of volunteers why do you have to pay protesters 500 Thai Baht and give them 3 free meals per day?
For a group of 10,000 protesters this amounts to approximately 5,750,000 Thai Baht per day. And you have been doing this now for 6 months.
Where does this money to finance this come from?
I know because my son was offered this sum today in Bangkok?

Interesting question.. The answer is Thaksin
Thank you for revealing what we have known for ages.
For those, who don’t know what I am talking about.. I am talking about the Red Shirts who said they are against the coup… (the opposition coup is what they are against…).. Do you know Thaksin also want his own coup as well! and They do everything only for Thaksin to return to power. I would like to see them staying at BMA in this cold night.
However, Gunnar’s update is not the latest… Now the price is starting from 2000, 3000, 5000.. by the condition that the red protesters must stay overnight. Many Thai people already know this. Do you ever read some newspaper?… I also have a video clip on this site showing how the payment is made at Sanam Luang by Channel 5.
If you want to know who support PAD?.. Look at this article “Who are behind PAD” I wrote this months ago… Check it.
