ASTV Office Hit by Gunfire

Early this morning at close to 2 am, unidentified men on a boat shot at the ASTV Office from the Chaopraya River. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

At 1.50 am, explosions and gunfire were heard at the ASTV office on Phra Arthit Road on the side adjacent to the Chaopraya River.

The incident disrupted a live news broadcast of News1 station with bullets hitting the studio but fortunately the anchor for the news program was able to duck in time and did sustained slight injuries from the glass fragment.

Damages were sustained to the glass on all four floors of the building.

PAD volunteer guards said they saw a boat driving from the Rama VIII Bridge heading for the Pinklao Bridge. When the boat neared the ASTV office, unidentified men shot M-79 grenades at the fourth floor of the building, believed to be targeting the satellite dish on the roof of the building. However, the bombs hit the netting around the office instead and the glass on the fourth floor.

Since the PAD rally happened, the ASTV and Manager offices have been the target of various forms of violence.

Speculation from ASTV staff (UPDATE 17:00)

The bullet with explosive head

The bullet with explosive head

First Unit, probably used 9mm HKMP5 or Glock CZ on the silent motor boat. This team has at least 3 people, 1 control the boat, 2 shooters

Holes in the glasses

There are probably 50 holes like this from 9mm Hollowpoint (police likes to use) the bullet with explosive head can go through 7mm glass, partition, and burried in the closet door deep over 1 inch. Intending to kill by looking at the level of target

Some ASTV staff would have died if there were many of them on duty at that time.

Second Unit, M79 shooters tried to destroy the broadcasting system. From the direction, it could be from the Santi Chaiprakarn or behind the ancient fortress.

Third Unit, The management unit could be the famous out-of-line soldier or some of his crew. They recently came to survey the area

Some Thai media accused ASTV guard to be responsible for all of this!! How stupid they are

Here is the result of M79 (notice the trail from the fire on the sheet)
