What does the People’s Alliance for Democracy have to gain from this long struggle?
A country that is free of corruption, crony capitalism, and nepotism. There is no financial gain to be made. Sondhi Limthongkul has already came out on several occasions and spoke about how he was offered more than 500 million baht for ASTV, but declined the offer knowing that it would be the end to INDEPENDENT Media free from the governments control. Pipob Thongchai has no business interest he is well known for his free educational schools in the provinces. Somkiat Pongpaiboon, is a former academic and now politician who wants to see change in society. Somsak Kosaisuk, is a leader of the state enterprises confederation who fought against the privatization of state enterprises. Chamlong Srimuang is a former army general, Bangkok governor and now an organic farmer who has a leadership school for civil servants as well as looking after unwanted street dogs. Not quite a group of capitalist bent on gaining from this long enduring struggle.
Several people have asked why have the PAD has resorted to protesting at Suvanabhumi airport?
The PAD has protested for more than six months, holding several mini rally’s around the city. We have protested at the ECC, Metropolitan Police Bureau, UK Embassy, Silom, Siam Square and several other areas in the capital to protest the corruption and lies within the government.
The Samak Sundaravej and Somchai Wongsawat governments both claim they came from free and fair democratic elections?
If that is true why is there coalition government consisting of the People Power Party, Chart Thai and Matchima Tipataya Party close to being dissolved due to electoral violations and accusations of vote buying? So, is it fair to say they had to cheat to win? If they do have the support they claim? Why would it be necessary to go such measures to win votes?
Is Thai Media free from government intervention?
It’s funny that the Pro-Government supporters who have a TV program on NBT Channel 11are bent on voicing their opposition against the PAD while they are broadcast on FREE TV, while ASTV is only available to those who have access to internet, members of provincial cable (which mind you only reaches 20-30% of the population), and viewer who purchase Free to Air satellites. So, in other words the people who support the PAD have had to go out of their way to listen to what the PAD has to say and not the PRO-Government Propaganda that is being aired. So, you could say the made a conscientious choice to listen to ASTV instead.
This government loves to speak of their populist policies? But always forget about the criminals within their party
Why doesn’t this government ever talk about the former party members who have been jailed such as Somchai (Kamnan Poh) the father of Sonthaya Khunplume former tourism minister or Wattana Asavahame who have both fled the country after their convictions of corruption? Let’s not forget the other person they are protecting Thaksin Shinawatra.
For the last 6 months, the government has chosen to ignore hundreds of thousands of Thai citizens who have dome out to show opposition toward this administration. The PAD realizes that the airport closures will drastically affect Thailand on a variety of dimensions. However, we will no longer be ignored.

The fact that the government is so upset about the closure of the airports and that the whole world is now talking about the situation, shows that the PAD has found the right way to fight this struggle.
The PAD is not putting anyones life at risk with their actions, I visited the airport several days ago with my family and was welcomed by everyone with open arms. Yes these people will defend themselves if attacked, but they have no intention of harming anyone who does not mean them harm.
I have included a link to some images of my visit.

Hi there folks, I’m from Australia and would probably be quite sympathetic to PAD’s agenda for fixing up certain governance issues in Thailand.
The closure of the airports, however, will cause more pain to ordinary Thai people than it will to the ruling elite. I’m thinking about the ordinary Thais who work for the airlines, as taxi drivers, in department stores, as tour guides, as market vendors etc.
I’d appreciate the advice of somebody (anybody…) from PAD about when BKK airport will be re-opened to flights. I’ve booked a holiday in Bangkok for the Christmas/New Year period for me, my wife and my 7-year old daughter. My daughter is really looking forward to seeing the elephants.
We’re not sure, however, whether we wait and take our chances with the airports re-opening or whether we cancel and go to Malaysa, Singapore, Vietnam etc.
Does anybody know when the airports will be open again??

Dear Ian,
We are sorry for your inconvenience. 5 December is our king’s birthday. Somchai’s government is likely to be finished a few days before that. In my personal opinion, PAD may be at the airport for few more weeks or days.
AOT has extended the closure of the airport for another 48 more hours… Really, they can open the airport while PAD is still there.
In my personal opinion (again).. You can wait until December 5 or the end of this week (Dec 7). I think I will be able to suggest you more.
In the meantime, you may look for alternative. If you like a beach, Malaysia might be a better choice for you. Vietnam is a good place for cultural tourism. Singapore is for shopping and other fun parks.

It seems to me that the PAD has moved to Don Muang on 25 November, because there was a small cabinet government meeting in one of the building airport. Somchai was expected to attend this meeting from his way from Peru, but his plane was delayed for technical problem.
The PAD’s intention to go to Don Muang, was to go to the meeting room, and “to ask” for the Somchai government to resign! But the cabinet members fled the building just before the PAD arrived. The next day, the PAD wanting to put more pressure, had decided to go to Suvarnabhumi Airport for to “receive” Somchai from his delayed Peru flight, presuming that he was due to arrive there.
But the airport authority decided to close the air traffic at Suvarnabhumi. After learned that, ASTV speaker asked that PAD supporters near (Rayon, Sattahip, Pattaya, Siracha, Chonburi,…) to go to U-Tapao Sattahip airport for “to receive” Somchai’s flight, assuming that Somchai’s plane might to land there. But his plane was finally diverted to Chiang-Mai!
The PAD’s intention to go to Don-Muang and Suvarnabhumi (U-Tapao) was the Somchai’s administration, but not the airports.
The reason for the closure of the airports has to be investigated (safety or for to divert Somchai’s plane?)
It seems that the tourism, transport, and export industries who are unhappy, wants to sue the PAD for the airport closure. It’s a topic issue in economical time crisis. This is why I think that this chapter has to go more in depth.
